MSCC - anyone been through it

Hi everyone,

I have been a lurker for a couple of years since my father was diagnosed with advanced PCA. First of all, thank you for posting your experiences and your insight.

Apalutamide + prostap did slow it down for a while but his PSA has been rising for a while.

He's today been admitted into hospital (ignored symptoms for a few weeks!) and they suspect spinal cord compression. He's currently waiting for an MRI and has been told depending on results it will be surgery or steroids.

I was hoping if any of you had experience of this and what the outcome was.

Normally he's active and getting on with his life despite his predicament. Totally stoic. But this morning we woke and couldn't move.

Thanks in advance

MSCC doesn’t sound fun.  What a nightmare.  No experience here but I have spread to my spine & MSCC is  something I’m very aware of.   I would be interested to hear how it goes with your father.  It sounds horrendous and hoping the medical team have addressed it early.   Please do let me know how it goes - good luck to you both and hoping you get some first hand feedback on this forum.

Thank you for replying. So there was a day spent after imaging wondering whether to do surgery or radiotherapy. However he had a stroke this morning.

So the MSCC is currently not the priority.

He's physically poor but aware of what's going on and the fact he's had a stroke. And he's trying to talk. He's gone to a stroke unit and we'll see what happens after assessment tomorrow
