Hi All,

wow - this isn’t somewhere I expected to be but im guessing that’s the same for all of us.

My dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer on the 28th May following PSA tests and biopsy. Since then he’s also had a PET scan which has shown cancer in his lymph nodes. Our next appointment is not until 6th August where will see the urology team. It just seems like such a long time and all the while his cancer is being untreated.

I was hoping someone may be able to give some advice as to what to expect during this next urology appointment? Dad has already opted to have the prostate removed and has been advised that he may well need radiotherapy too.

My mom is disabled so I’m trying to be as positive as I can but to be honest I don’t think I’ve ever felt so scared or alone. I have a fantastic husband and 2 teenagers but again feel like I have to be the strong one.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated ❤️

Hi Lucy,

I'm sorry that your dad has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, but I think it's lovely that you've joined us to help and support him. Welcome to the forum.

We fully understand how scared and isolated you feel. Most of us have felt those same emotions.

To answer you question, it would be helpful I'd you could tell us, how old is your dad? Do you know his PSA level, Gleason score and cancer staging? Are the infiltrated lymph nodes in close proximity to the prostate?
