You haven't said which hormone therapy drugs you have been on.

There are two types of main hormone therapy drugs:

GnRH Agonist:
Zoladex, Prostap, Decapeptyl, Staladex

GnRH Antagonist:
Firmagon/Degarelix, Orgovyx/Relugolix

The GnRH Agonists cause a Testosterone flare, and hence should be started with 28 days of Bicalutamide with the first injection half way through, to prevent the Testosterone flare from getting to the cancer.

The GnRH Antagonists don't cause a Testosterone flare, and can be started without Bicalutamide.

(These are sometimes called LHRH [Ant]agonists - GnRH and LHRH are different names for the same hormone.)

Sorry for delay in replying andy. I am on prosap injections  every 3 months and had no problem with these. I have now also started on abiraterone 2 tablets once per day and a steroid pens something 1 per day only started these drugs a week ago but l have been on prosap a few months. Anyway l am having issues with legs swelling and difficulty walking  hope this doesn't last long

It could be the steroid, so you need to let your oncologist know.

There may be an option to switch to another tablet which doesn't need the steroid (Abiraterone does, because it also stops your body from producing some essential steroids). The option to switch these drugs is only there for the first 3 months you're on them, so don't hang around in case that's what they might want to do.

My primary treatment was 3yrs Zoladex with 32 sessions of RT. Included was abiraterone, enzalutimide, prednisolone for 2 yrs on trial.

I had a spell of very painful achilles tendons and struggled to walk at times, the tendons were very sensitive to touch& felt like they were burning. Physio helped via stretching the achilles' often. Oncologist& physio said he steroid made tendons stiff &seemingly shortening them causing the pain. I wasn't really bothered as it was li!kely to be temporary etc but it was really painful. No lasting damage. Obviously can't say if this ties in with your issues but steroids, in my case prednisolone (can't remember dose but 2 tablets whilst on trial), can cause muscle/tendon etc pain.
