Prostap How Long?

Hi,

I have been having a Prostap Injection every 3 months. I should be able to stop after having 6 injections so will have been on it for 18 months. Does anyone know how long it takes for the Prostap to clear your system? Obviously it will last over the 3 months of dosage time but can't seem to find out how much longer.

I don't know that it is possible to give a definite answer because this can vary from man to man but I assume you will be having regular PSA Blood tests so you could ask for Testosterone to be checked at the same time. As this increases it will show how HT is wearing off.

Hi Stuart,

As Barry says, there's no definitive answer. I have read on here that the general rule of thumb is it will take as long for it to clear your system as you've been on it, but I dont know how true that is.

PCUK say:

If you stop your hormone therapy, your testosterone levels should gradually rise again and some side effects will reduce. Your side effects won’t stop as soon as you finish hormone therapy – it may take several months to several years.

I’m new to this site and only 9 weeks into ADT I’m having every side effect listed and struggling. I’m on it for 3 years. I hope the side effects don’t last another 3 years on top of the 3 years on it..

Hi all, I was on Zoladex (very similar to Prostap) for 24 months. I was advised it would take 12 months to see testosterone come back. My last injection was June so should have been out of my system by July, 2 months later it's still undetectable, but it's early days. Other have said when it starts to return, it returns quickly.

If you're not having Testo with your PSA tests I'd ask for it to be added as it will help to understand any changes you might see in your PSA level once treatment has finished.

My advice whilst on ADT is try and keep active, it will help protect your bones and I found it helped keep my energy levels up. Also look at and ask about vacuum pumps and tadalafil (like Viagra) to help maintain penile health. It is available on the NHS, though this does vary by location/trust
