Hi sorry to post this- normally I’m very strong and just get on with life but tonight I just need your positive vibes. My husband was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer New Year’s Eve 25 aged 59 .  Gleason score 8 and it already in lymph nodes. He on 6 monthly  hormone injections and takes apultimide  and half way through radiotherapy .  Last treatment 5 September. It is the not knowing of what is round the corner and how long  he has left . How do you deal with it. Sorry and thanks for taking the time to read this post .

Dear Taz68,

Definitely sending you positive vibes. In general I don't post because my husband is a very private person. But I am in the same boat as you and want to send my virtual support. I get a lot of strength reading the posts on this forum. We were the type of people who are always thinking about tomorrow, not today. That all changed, making the most of every day. Fortunately, RT and still on HT are keeping things at bay for him, so QOL is good now and I try very hard to focus on appreciating every second with my husband. I understand where you are coming from. It's impossible to keep my mind from wandering, and I spend part of almost every day with my head in the space you are in, and feeling like you write. But you are not alone on this forum! I am so inspired by so many people on here seizing the day, trying to be like them. This helps me immensely, to really enjoy wonderful quality time together, and also to help him enjoy every day to the max possible.

Hi Taz68, More positive vibes coming through. It is always good to make contact on this wonderful community and I know how hard it is being strong for your parther when they have a scary diagnosis. My profile shows our journey, which is with an aggresive cancer. To find out how well your husband is doing take a look at how well he has responded to the treatments. I don't know his initial PSA level but if it came right down within a few months that is a great response and shows better outcomes. Try looking at this PCRI video on treating advanced cancer with a high PSA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCizbJD7c7s&t=994s. PCRI have lots of great YouTube videos and info. How do I deal with it - well I made a big decision to keep myself very healthy so I can be strong and going to the gym and having a personal trainer has helped. I also focus on providing very nutritious food to my OH as he has a small appetite these days. We don't go out much now but keep things really simple.

Take care and good luck.
