I had an RP on 20th Aug and foley catheter  fitted. After 2 weeks catheter removed, 2 days later unable to pass urine without forcing it but eventually couldn’t pass at all. Emergency dash to A&E and camera found urethra blocked where the stitching took place. Camera cleared the way into my bladder and another Catheter fitted and put on antibiotics.  Since then I seem to have debris occasionally flowing down the catheter. Is this normal?

Debris in the urine is quite normal. It's one of the reasons you need to keep up your fluid intake :)

Hi Chris, The doc who did the camera had spoken to my consultant so I guess he knew what he was doing. I’m thinking that the debris was dislodged into the bladder by the camera and that’s probably what’s finding its way through the catheter.  Thanks for the response.

GlennH, debris in the catheter after surgery is quite common, less common is the migration of hem o lok clips into the bladder or urethra. Was it a cancer urologist who put the camera into your bladder. Many of us have been told not to let any Tom ,Dick or Harry go into the urethra or bladder so soon after RARP.

Thanks Chris
