Cruising, Lack of toilets and urgency

I am currently on a cruise and last night found myself in a right pickle, I was Sat having a meal with my wife and between courses left to go to the toilet but there was a queue, immediately the urgency got so intense I went to try and find alternative facilities but unfortunately I lost control and wet myself.
I had to go back to my room and change, all this while my wife was waiting. I was really embarrassed and got quite emotional, for the first time through my short journey.
Can anyone recommend tips or products that are available??

Nick ,have you got pads with you, they won't hold a sudden full deluge from the bladder and small leaks all add up then suddenly leak. I always carry a spare pad and disposable bag. With elasticated waist trousers I can whip out and bag a wet bag and fit a new dry pad whilst walking. Not sure I would manage it with lots of people around on a cruise ship. The sheath systems are a great help but can be a faff and not infallible when it comes to leaks.

The sheath system is frowned upon by some consultants if used too soon after surgery, not sure how they view it after RT. Are you doing pelvic floor exercises. Enjoy your cruise as much as possible.

Thanks Chris

Nick, I can only sympathise, but share my own experience in case it is helpful.

I find control tends to be worse in the evenings, probably because what remains of my sphincter muscles become tired - certainly things are worse if they have been worked hard (e.g. gardening). I have never been on a cruise, but I do find parties a particular risk. I think it is a consequence of alcohol, when at home (or restaurants/pub) I know what I am drinking and am careful about it, but at parties my glass tends to be filled up by the hosts without me keeping count and with the conversation and general bonhomie keeping me drinking. It can cause embarrassing leaks.

Like ColwickChris I always carry a spare pad and bag with me in a back pocket; most days it isn't needed but just occasionally I am very grateful. Having learnt my lesson, if we are heading for a party at someone else's house I now change to a higher rated pad before just in case, better to be safe than sorry!

Thanks both for the reply, I always carry a spare pad every where I go but unfortunately on this occasion it was too much volume, I find I am ok until faced with a situation where I am forced to wait. My wife seen a product she thinks are called Orca pants which are washable and reusable but we haven’t found anywhere that sell them.
