End of hormone therapy

I was diagnosed with T3B N1 M0 PSA 252 G8

Ive had full pelvic radiation, chemotherapy and HT for three years.

During HT my PSA was undetectable.

I had my last 6 monthly injection in October 2024,

my PSA is now 0.5 and my testosterone is 26.

Has anyone got any thoughts on this?

Hi,

Only from what I've been told. I was similar, T3B N0 M0, PSA currently undetectable while on ADT (10 months left to go)

I was told a PSA up to 2 is ok once ADT stops. I wasn't given any indication of how quickly it might rise once off it though.

Your testosterone figure is impressive considering how long you were on ADT!

Thanks for replying, John.

I’m concerned that my testosterone has risen so high, so quickly; is it something I should be worried about?

No problem. I was told it would be about (at least)12 months to recover, and that resistance training / exercise would help.

I'm no expert, but I wouldn't have thought a fast testosterone recovery is necessarily bad, if anything it would be good to get back to normal! I don't think it's linked to cancer return either. Do you know what your testo was before treatment? I don't think many people get to know

Maybe give the prostate cancer nurse specialists a call

I’ve been weight training since I was 13 and still work out once a week on a multi gym but despite the testosterone return, I’ve still lost 30% of my strength.

The nurse seemed a bit concerned about the testosterone level but said it’s early days and I will be tested again in six months.

My testosterone wasn’t measured prior to my treatment.

Maybe all those years of training has helped.

I'm trying to get back to doing more exercise to try and stave of more weight gain/muscle loss and to hopefully get me in to a route for when ADT stops, and hopefully fast testosterone recovery. (I don't know what mine was prior either)

I do feel I'm slowly being ground down by the hormone therapy

All the best for your next test

John
