Lateral Thigh Pain

I was diagnosed with stage 2 PC earlier this month, with sufficiently worrying features that I am waiting for a robotic prostatectomy. I was told the PC is restricted to my prostate - I have had a PSA test, DRE, MRI and of course biopsy but no other investigations.

Since before the diagnosis and more frequently now, I am suffering from pain in the outer thighs, towards the rear.

This would and continues to wake me at night when I sleep on either side, but more recently it is noticeable sitting at my desk now, like a dull ache in the same place on both thighs.

Just wondering if anyone else has had similar pain and whether it has been linked with PC?

Matt, I think you at that age when you probably get aches and pains anyway. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis not long after diagnosis at 62. Hope all goes well with your treatment.

Thanks Chris.

Thanks Chris, I suspect you are right.

After a kettlebell workout I felt much better and probably the motion helped stretch out the discomfort which feels more muscular than bone-related.

Hi Matthew,

I hope you are well. I had Brachytherapy in mid Sept 2025 and a couple of days later had a persistent dull ache in the outside of my right thigh. This usually happened at night and was enough to keep me awake. I mentioned this to my cancer doctor in a follow up phone call in December. Their opinion was it was a nerve reaction after being put in a particular position for the procedure. The ache has decreased a lot in the past month.

I hope this helps, good luck on this journey.
