Lower back pain 4 weeks after robotic radical prostatectomy

My 72 year old husband had prostate cancer gleason score 3+4. He had a robotic radical prostatectomy 4 weeks ago. He had bad back pain while he had the catheter in. The catheter was removed a week and a half ago. He has recently started experiencing lower back pain which sometimes radiates down his front legs. Luckily it’s not constant. 2 days ago,  apart from having it in the morning, the rest of the day went quite well. The following day it was a different story and he had to lie down to get the pressure off. Yesterday he was able to manage it by lying down with knees raised. Pain killers do help.  Has anyone else had this?

It’s probably a good idea to check for a UTI, in case antibiotics are required.

Thanks Chris

Hi

Did he have any lymph nodes removed? Sometimes fluid can build up after removal causing lymphocele putting pressure on nerves.

Apparently no lymph nodes were removed.
