I was diagnosed back in 2010 and had a prostatectomy at Addenbrooke's Hospital. Some on here may remember me as I made so many friends but gradually lost touch when I moved to Thailand. Since then I've had an undetectable PSA which I'm eternally grateful for. To my surprise then that on my annual health check at the doctors it was suggested that I had a rectal examination to check all was still ok? Surely it would be if my PSA is still zero? Anyone else come across this?
Dansencier, he can't be checking the prostate, unless you have regrown one. Certainly never had a rectal since diagnosis days 12 years ago. Nice to see old names pop up.
Thanks Chris
Maybe your GP didn't read your notes properly. A few weeks back my GP told me I might have BPH. I haven't had a prostate since 2017! Also lost mine in Addinbrooks actually.
Cheers

Hi, Dan.
The doctor's decision to give you a DRE when you're prostate free, seems illogical. If he had a reason, he'd have difficulty in putting his finger on it. 🙂

Work paid for a full body and life style health check. DRE would have been part of this. First thing the Doc said was you'll not be needing one of those! They then went to talk about all the possible physical and mental side effects following RP. I was impressed.
