My partner was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer

Hello everyone, life, as it is so vivid for all of you, has led me here! My partner was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in June; he is 50 years old. We have now had scans, X-rays, and MRIs done, which confirm that it has spread to his spine, ribs, and thigh. We received the first hormone injection a month ago and went to the hospital today for a follow-up examination. His PSA level is now at a low 1.9, which is great!

I’m so sorry that you find yourself here. I’ve found this community very supportive, and reading about others’ journeys has given me hope, strength and guidance. I hope you find the same.

I am so glad HT is working and I hope it is very successful for your partner for a long time. There are many new treatments available too. Some members of the community with diagnoses similar to your husband’s can comment.

My husband was diagnosed young, in his fifties, with T3b and many lymph node metastases. So not quite the same because no bone mets. Still, the diagnosis, and all the worries that come with it, have strengthened our relationship — one we had perhaps begun to take for granted after decades together. We were a team before, but lot of things that would have or did bother me before, I ask myself why was that a bother? We truly seize every opportunity to make the best of things, together. I have been inspired by their determination to make the most of every possible opportunity. I hope you and your partner can find such fulfillment too.

I'm very glad the PSA is coming down. Long may that continue.  I have a similar diagnosis outlined in my profile. I guess treatment might be slightly different in the US.

Best wishes
