Continence after TWOC

Hi all

Had my catheter removed yesterday, so far not too bad and a lot better than I was thinking it was going to be. I’m dribbling when I stand from sitting in a chair and a bit when walking

Is it advised to restart the pelvic floor exercises again now? Or am I best to leave it for a while post op and post catheter?

I realise I have been luckier than some with regards to continence but is it likely these dribbles will stop and improve and/or will the exercises help?

Hi.  I was also dry with a couple of dribbles after TWOC.  I am now 3 months post op and dry     I have started pelvic again as I had a couple of minor dribbles this week    Before my op I was doing them about 6 times a day for 8 weeks which I believe helped massively.   Cheers.

Thanks Simon. That’s encouraging.

I’m also finding now that I need to pee a lot more frequently although only very small amounts.

I will have a ‘proper’ wee but shortly after May need another but a very small amount and then again quite frequently

Anyone encountered that ?

I would be very surprised if you don't regain continence quite soon. The most important thing is to do pelvic floor exercise, starting very very gently just a few squeezes two/three times a day building up to 10 three times a day. I found that doing this exercise sitting on the toilet is convenient and you will soon notice the improvement. Good luck.

Hi IMF73,

I had my catheter out (2 days earlier than planned) due to a UTI 12 days ago. I have also struggled with just a trickle or drips. I have currently got Epididymitis ( rather swollen and sore testicles!) so I am not sure if anything is connected to these two infections. What I can say is that yesterday I noticed, what seems to be dried flakes of blood in my urine. At one point my flow seemed to improve a bit, after some of these came out. It has since gone back to slow, but I have a feeling it could be partially blocked with these flakes which are coming out.

I am back to see the surgeon tomorrow so will hopefully find out more.

Other people have posted about certain stitches dissolving before getting a flow back but we are all different. It might be worth giving the Urology dept a call and asking if it is normal.

Update….leakage and continence is improving slightly which is good.
however I have started to see blood in my urine over the last 2 days.
Is this normal 10days after catheter removal?

My wee is a pink colour and I am seeing blood at the start of the wee.
