Decapeptyl anyone share experience

Husband has a week until first injection. He has been given 3 options, one is Zoladex, one is Decapeptyl.  I understand testosterone recovery may be slightly better on Decapeptyl.  However they are equally effective. Anyone comment please?

We have had no opportunity to discuss with anyone but the pharmacist at our GPs is ringing him in a couple of days

I have been on Decapeptyl for 5 yrs and have managed really well with it. I have 3 monthly injections in the hip/buttock. Sore for a day. My side effects have been extremely manageable tbh.

Sadly its efficacy is being to wane which is normal 5 years into it. Sadly I’m incurable and have hit the 10 years into survival so I’m expecting bad things soon 😢

Hi,

I read somewhere that Decapeptyl was the most effective at lowering testo. It's also injected into muscle rather that under the skin, and you can go six monthly if you want.

Here's a brief thread about Zoladex vs Decapeptyl on Macmillan, no mention of recovery times though.

The first injection I had was zoladex this was changed to decapeptyl, but only because I changed from private treatment to NHS treatment. I can't say I experienced any difference between the two injections. Our local surgery don't do zoladex injections.

Thanks Chris

I have recently completed 12 months Decapeptyl with three monthly injections. Side effects for me are hot flushes, fatigue, loss of body hair and aching joints. All fairly standard stuff from what I read.

Hi husband knows now he is getting decapeptyl. Pharmacist was quite honest just said its cheaper. Four week dose to start with to see if it agrees.

Hopefully we will cope, so many of you do.
