I shouldn't worry but....

Hi again all,

I'm exactly 12 months since my RS-RALP surgery and have had my latest PSA results today with my consultants team.
Have been making good progress since my surgery last year and was hopeful that My PSA had stayed the same and i would have been moved onto 6 monthly reviews.

My 3 previous PSA tests were all <0.01, described as undetectable.

Today the registrar told my my results were still 0.01 with no change and that i would be moved onto 6 month reviews if it stayed the same in February (i assumed this was just a slip of the tongue).

I received the letter earlier this morning stating the above, so queried "surely if its gone from being <0.01 to 0.01, that is a change??"

After the usual fighting to speak to someone i was told by the consultants EA, that she had spoken to the whole consultancy team and this just an anomoly and they were not worried.

I know with such low readings after surgery i shouldn't worry, but why say there hasn't been a change if there has been a change (albeit minor)

Its very hard not to worry now....

Best wishes
Hertsman

Hi,

We've had similar situations before where someone inputting the results simply missed off the < less than sign.

It would be a remarkable coincidence if your current 0.01 was exactly the same as the lowest your laboratory measures down to ( < 0.01).
