Treatment plan for advanced locally to one node

Husband now has treatment plan.

He has his first HT injection on 9th December. Decapeptyl. 4 weeks first.

Routine gp bloods on 12th to check cholesterol etc and calcium. He has already been prescribed vitamin D as apparently he is low in that.

Then follow up with GP on 16th.

Next appointment at hospital on 6th Jan as follow up.

At some point he will have Apalutamide added to the mix. I  understand why but am very concerned about side effects. Hopefully if it's not good it may be swopped for something else. I'm learning to take each day as it comes already 😌

Antoinette, I am on decapeptyl and apalutamide. I have been on them since march this year. The hot flushes are probably the most annoying for me and I get a couple most evenings. I did get mood swings at the start but they seem to have eased off. They are struggling to get my blood pressure under control. I am taking vitamin D every day. All in all, it is all quiet tolerable.

Thanks Chris

With the hot flushes, I did have many flushes day and night but expected them, I had acupuncture and that really helped me, the hot flushes eased considerably if he fancies giving that a go-tho I know it doesnt help everyone. They can help with other aspects too sleep, stress etc. I hadnt had acupuncture before and I was really impressed.

Well that's something reasonable to hear. Thank you for replying to me, I appreciate it. I am concerned about the BP side too.

I've bought a Embr wave device for hot flushes. I'm hoping it helps. I've seen they do.  They are expensive but i got one off ebay. The unknown is quite daunting!

Thank you Peter for that. I've had acupuncture. He's a pretty open minded sort of chap and I'm sure would be willing to give it a go. Thank you

Hi Mike Thank you for that. Feeling bit more positive and he is a very practical sort of chap. His father had prostate cancer back in the 1990s and lived to be 93. He had radiotherapy.

We'll just take a day at a time and do the best we can x
