Orgasm return date post Prostatectomy?

At 6 am this morning I awoke with a firm erection - the first since my operation. What a minor victory, I was pleased but held back from waking my wife to show her - it faded rather quickly anyway! I am 16 weeks since Prostatectomy (apparently nerve sparing) and I am on Tadalafil 5mg/day and pump regularly with my vacuum erection device (SomaErect) for rehabilitation. My question to the group is this- how long till any sort of orgasm returns and will I recognise it when it comes? Thanks kindly.

How long is a piece of string? Like so much else with PCa, it can vary considerably from man to man but be patient. The stirrings are a good sign.

Hello,

You seem to be making excellent progress.

Three years ago I had non-nerve sparing RARP. I was told that I would never be able to have a natural erection again, and unfortunately up to now that has been the case. However, I can still get erections if I use Invicorp penile injections.

Very recently, I've noticed that during the night I've started to get 'pee proud' again. I'm taking that as a positive omen.

Your can still have an orgasm without an erection. Some men say, whether erect or not, that their orgasms are less good than pre-surgery. Others say their orgasms are more intense post-surgery.

Personally, mine are about the same as pre-surgery. Too infrequent and nothing to write home about. My wife concurs. 🙂

Hi Calluna

From my personal experience and that of others who write here and in other forums, the quality of orgasms following prostatectomy are on a spectrum from nothing much to absolutely amazing, often better than pre-surgery. They can be dry or some ejaculate urine; some also leak urine during foreplay or any erotic experience. You may have some pre-ejaculate (pre-cum) lubrication around the glans (head) of the penis, if the surgeon has not removed the Cowper’s glands - under the prostate - which produces lubricant to protect sperms and help during penetrative sex. Of course you don't need an erection to masturbate which helps the rehabilitation process greatly. You appear to be doing all the right things to achieve maximum possible rehabilitation. During this early period you must be imaginative and just have fun, solo or with your wife/partner for mutual benefit. All this will help re re-establih your sex life after the onslaught of surgery.
