Hi all

Is it normal to see some blood in your wee after the catheter is removed?
The surgeon did warn me of this at the time but it has started to happen 10 days after the catheter was removed.
is that normal and part of the healing process ?

I get a few drops of blood then wee  my wee is a pink colour

Just feels a bit odd that it’s happening now 10 days later rather than when the catheter was removed.
Anyone else experienced this?

You do get clots breaking off but if in doubt get it checked out...

Bounce it off the clinical team if it doesn’t settle.

Hi there, I’ve also noticed some pinkish or slightly bloody urine a while after my catheter was removed, and it did feel a bit unsettling at first. From what I’ve read and been told by my care team, a little bleeding or small clots can happen as the urinary tract continues to heal even up to a couple of weeks post-catheter — it’s part of the body shedding scabs and tiny clots. Some people in other threads here have mentioned similar experiences and have been reassured that it’s nothing serious as long as it gradually improves. However, if the bleeding gets heavier, you see bigger clots, or it doesn’t start to settle down soon, I agree with others — it’s worth checking with your clinical team just to be safe.

Hi Jack

Yes, I was told the same by my medical teams too. It was just a bit of a concern as it didnt start until around 10 days post catheter removal!!

It only lasted a couple of days
