Trying to work out various test results! Any help?

Hi, 64 year old hubby is undergoing assessment and has had PSA of 8.1 with nodules found on DRE. MRI showed PiRad 2 in both peripheral zones plus a pirads 3 lesion in left apical zone. His PSA density was calculated as 2.0 which is higher than the 0.15 cut off I think.
So would this result in a transperineal biopsy? We have to wait a while to see the consultant.

It is always hard to know as we are just amateurs on this site. Nearly everything you've said would point to a biopsy as next axtion, except the lowish Pirads scores. On balance I would say a biopsy is highly likely.

Hi, Ali.

I'm sorry that your husband may be having prostate problems. However, it's great that you've joined 'our club' to help him. Welcome to the forum.

I agree with everything Dave has said.

PSA tests and MRI scans are just indicators that something maybe amiss. His PSA is elevated, but this may be caused by non-cancerous conditions. Only a biopsy can say whether there is any prostate cancer, and IF SO, how aggressive its likely to be.

Please keep us updated and good luck.👍
