8 week waits

I had my second prostate biopsy on December 18 to see if my low grade prostate cancer had become more aggressive. Today, some 28 days later, I inquired as to when I would get results and received an appointment for February 11. That is a wait of more than 50 days. And that is on top of a 57 day wait for the results of the MRI that prompted the biopsy. I hate to complain, but surely this amount of delay in diagnosis and treatment is beyond unacceptable. (FYI, I am in the West Midlands)

What makes this even more unacceptable, in my opinion, is that the same urologist who 'looks after' my case would have accomplished both the MRI and biopsy, with results, in a couple of weeks if I had paid him to do it privately.

What that means in practical terms is this: whatever the biopsy finds, I would have known last August rather than next February. Of course, if the findings are "nothing to worry about" then the Trust can say "no harm done" and I'm not going to be as angry as I will be if the findings indicate immeiate action is required. But I would still contend that harm has been done, and is being done to many men who are living with the stress and anxiety of waiting months for test results, whether those are MRI or biopsy.

Not sure what can be done about this, but wanted to share in case this helps anyone. I do have advice for anyone who has both A. prostate concerns and B. lots of money, pay to get answers right away and save yourself months of stress and anxiety.

Stephen, to me all this waiting is a bit like having a leak under the floorboards. At some point the ceiling falls down.

Thanks Chris
