That result is actually just within normal range for your age 56 according to your profile here. The pain is unlikely to be related. Try to relax and maybe get your bum ache looked at if it persists.

Hi, Kev.

I'm sorry to hear that you're anxious about your PSA result, but welcome to the forum, mate. You'll get lots of help and support here.

PSA tests are only indicators of possible prostate cancer. Even if your PSA is deemed  elevated, it can be caused by non-cancerous prostate conditions or UTIs. At 56 years old, yours is borderline.

Is it your first PSA test?

Did your doctor give you a DRE (finger up the bum, examination)?

I'm not medically trained, mate. However, my guess is, that they'll probably just keep an eye on your PSA levels.

I know its easy for me to say dont worry, but honestly, you appear to have little to be anxious about.

The pain in your buttocks is highly unlikely to be prostate cancer linked. However, pain in your rectum, especially when ejaculating, can be caused by non cancerous prostatitis.

Has your doctor refered you to urology or is he monitoring the situation?

Good luck, mate.👍

Your Doc is being very cautious. As said you are borderline within the guidelines for your age of 56.
Just chill out a bit. Highly unlikely pain is related and it has spread with your low result. Your Doc is on the case and  see what next result is.

Having sex 48 hours before a PSA test can raise it slightly, as can a bit if infection.  3.4 still seems quite low. If the pain is in the buttocks and back of legs, that sounds more muscular to me. I have a kind of medical phobia, and it's very easy to interpret any kind of ordinary aches and pains as something more sinister,  especially if you're imaginative
