Hi all

I am new here!

Joined the forum in desperation for some answers and having read through previous conversation it looks like there is a lot of support out there and I am hoping someone may be able to offer some advice.

My dad was diagnosed with Advance Metastatic Prostate Cancer last November which has now spread to a lot of his bones and even hi bone marrow and his PSA continues to rise. He has been having zoladex treatment for the past 12 months but it doesn’t seem to be working. At the same time of finding out about his prostate cancer diagnosis he also found out he has heart failure and because of this the oncologist is saying there is no further treatment he can offer and has basically discharged him. Is there anyone else out there that has heart failure but also receiving another form of prostate cancer treatment?

We are his just not ready to give up and accept that there is nothing else we can try so hoping someone can offer some glimmer of hope.

Also from experience with zoladex has anyone had any specific side effects? As we are struggling to identify whether symptoms my dad is experiencing is from his cancer or the treatment and what is a symptoms of the heart failure.

Thanks for any responses in advance, Lucy.

Hi Lucy.

I'm very sorry to see that your dad has metastasic disease but it's lovely to see that you've joined the forum to do your best to help him. Welcome.

I'm afraid I cant help you with your specific query, but I'm sure there will be others who'll be able to assist.

Good luck.

Hi

I'm sorry to hear of your dad's situation. If there are no treatments being offered locally then speaking to the PCUK nurse specialist on this website might be the best way to get advice on options.

You could also ask if a referral to palliative care would be appropriate if you don't feel your dad is getting enough support from oncology.

With best wishes

Yes, there are people with heart failure who are still receiving treatment for advanced metastatic prostate cancer.
