Question.  Who has failed a flow test and what did have to do to correct and pass a second test. I have been prescribed Flomax. Cheers Dave

Hi, Dave.

Best of luck with your next flow test, mate. I'm pleased that the H/T isn't too problematic.

I don't know much at all about RT and HT, but there are loads having the same treatment. I'm sure that they'll help out if you ever need any.

Please keep us updated.👍

As you say, spring is just around the corner. Let's hope we get a bit of early warm sunshine.

Dave I got almost obsessed with my flow rate but it was for a good reason. To check your average flow rate get a proper urine bottle that has measurements on the bottle. Urinate into.the bottle and using your watch or phone,  time how long it takes to urinate. Divide the volume of urine by the time in seconds. 300mls / 30secs give an average of 10 mls per second. Remember that is the average flow and does not give max,min or starting flow.

I was down to 0.5mls/ second just before my  dilatations.

Thanks Chris

Dave , how do you mean you failed the test 🙂, do you mean you couldn't pee in the funnel or you touched the scales. If you mean your flow is too slow, I went back into theatre numerous times to try and sort a urethral stricture.

Thanks Chris

They said it was a bit on the slow side. I thought I pee'd in the funnel with a reasonable stream but at the end of the day it's what i've been used too for the last 10 years or so. Anyway my consultant said he would prefer I had a better flow before radiation treatment which why he is prescribing tamsulosin. hopefully i will get a prescription issued tomorrow...

cheers dave

Another test in around 3 weeks. I've worked out 1 litre of water takes 1 & half hours before I have a strong need to pee so hopefuly this will work on the day. Been on Tamsulosin for 5 days with 30 tablets treatment in total. Prescription on repeat. I have what seems to be a much stronger flow now but who knows if it will be acceptable. The very last thing I want is Catheter which was mentioned at my last test..... I think my VMAT 20 sessions radiation treatment will be through the month of April.

ADT really has'nt been to bothersome. A few mild Hot Flashes mostly daytime. I expect they will increase as its only been 5 weeks since my Prostat 3 injection. Excercising daily with my shiny new static bike and a fair bit of weight resistant training... So far so good!!

Days are getting longer and the Spring Bulbs are pushing through which is nice....

Cheers Dave..
