Hi guys one thing I did since my cancer I completely gave up meat and diary.I have to say it was new to me but not my wife ,so how have I faired .Well at my age 68 I do not take any type of medication what so ever, yes I have  osteoarthritis of the knees ad may require later a knee replacement , but for now I manage my knees via the gym and tai chi.Pain is sometimes quite bad ,but I refuse to to submit to drugs.I pray with constant exercise and good food eating my increased fitness and health will remain with me, who knows what our next adventure or mountain maybe.Anyone else on here dramatically changed their diet .

regards Bill

Nope.

Hi Bill.

I've got ischemic heart disease, which is a much greater reason than prostate cancer, to eat healthier. But I don't

I love a pint. I love KFC. I used to love exercise, but my arthritis has stopped that. All reasons why I'm on a handful of drugs a day.

At nearly 70 years old, I love life, even if my lifestyle risks reducing it slightly.

Yes I gave up being vegetarian and now try to eat no carbs and maximise fatty meats.

Never felt better, have got off all my BP meds and lost 15kg.

Pasta is probably the worst food on the planet, highly processed and turns straight to sugar in your gut, just do not eat it.

Hi francij1

About 15 years ago, in only 8 months, I lost 42 lbs. It's apparently, the same weight as an average 4 year old child, man's leg, or Dalmatian dog. ๐Ÿ™‚

I got down to 13 stone from 16 stone. I'm now 14 and a half stone.

I've got clothes varying from  Medium to XXL and jeans and trousers from 32" to 40" waist.

Prostate cancer didn't affect my measurements apart form one small area. ๐Ÿ˜

Hi William

When I was diagnosed with PC ,I gave up alcohol totally.,(I drank wine every day ,I thought 3 glasses was 3 of my 5 a day๐Ÿ˜€).I also reduced my sugar intake and most of mine is now from fruit.I replaced milk chocolate with Dark chocolate.I eat lots of natural yoghurt and try to eat lots of nuts and seeds and foods that are considered good for the gut.I lost 10 kg and feel pretty good .

I think if you feel something is doing you good it probably is .I don't believe there is any definitive prostate cancer healthy diet just the general NHS guidelines on healthy eating. If something works for you that's great๐Ÿ‘

I found out I had CKD in the same blood test as PCa. So a forced change. Always thought I had a reasonable diet turns out that in addition to lowering sodium I also had too much phosphorus and potassium. So out went the muesli, banana, kiwi and fresh orange juice every morning. Turns out a potassium bomb is a bad way to wake up the kidneys everyday.

Red meat and potatoes most days has turned into grilled chicken or fresh fish with rice, pasta salad. Gone are the default choices of pizza, burger and chips etc from the menu when eating lunch out replaced with carefully selected pasta or rice dishes. Turns out some veggie dishes taste ok, but most have far too much salt added to be regular options.

Just remembered many years ago while I was in the navy went late for lunch and nothing really tasty was left. Asked the chef what the veggie choice was. All gone sorry I can do you an omelette. Cheers I replied. What do you want in it? Ham, cheese and tomato please. His face, but he offered the omelette.

This is completely at odds to my dietitian advice. She said pasta is an excellent source of carbohydrates, something that I need as I run four times a week. Combine with egg whites is also a good choice for protein. Avoiding shop ready meals obviously as they add unnecessary amounts of salt.

Why eat empty processed energy when you can consume whole foods with lots of macro nutrients AND energy.

Hi, if you want the truth have a CT Scan.  It's like an MoT.  I had one last year and have since been on 4 tablets a day, plus one extra on Saturday.  Quite an awakening.  All the best.
