Time between MRI and knowing if Biopsy needed (West Sussex)

Hi,

been reading lots on this informative forum, still hoping unnecessarily! My husband requested a PSA test last week due to increased peeing at night…68 and last PSA two years ago 3.5. Phone call from GP next day PSA was 7 so put on 2 week referral list last Thursday. Phone call Mon from Urology to book for MRI next day and repeat PSA done Thursday. Just wondering how long (on average) people had to wait for results to see if next stage is a Biopsy?
We are under Sussex NHS and consultant based in Worthing? Thanks if you’ve any advice while we wait :(

Tracey

I had the MRI at 8pm Monday evening and got a telephone call for a biopsy the next morning at 10am. Pretty sure it must be AI assisted analysis over night at RCHT Trelisk. Must say they have been on the ball, not their fault the biopsy results took 5 weeks to get. They use Deriford in Plymouth for histology.

PSA & MRI can indicate something to investigate or not. It’s the biopsy that has the important information. Nothing can be determined until the biopsy results are known.

Hi Tracey, I'm in Hove, 66 years old, and can look at Worthing pier every morning but we're East Sussex Health Trust.

My MRI, after PSA 5.2, was on 27/12/26 at the Amex Stadium for the NHS and I was rung 3 days later.

This gave me a Biopsy date for 16 days time on 19th January at Princess Royal Haywards Heath.

Results consultation this Wednesday after 24 days. Localised lesion, T2 Gleason 4+3.

Referred to Eastbourne District General Hospital for prostatectomy probably within 2 months. Will hear in day or two.

Hopefully you won't need the information after the MRI result! I put it all down as it has been a seamless Pathway so far. Good luck.
