Advice please - PIRADS-3

Hi, I decided to self fund diagnosis that resulted in an MRI with contrast dye showing a PIRADS-3 lesion . The reason to do this, as in a lot of pain in the prostate area and seemingly not getting anywhere with NHS Urology due to low PSA.

I’m 61 yrs with PSA last year at 1 ng/ml and on recent repeat now 2 ng/ml. It has however, been much higher in the past following from cycle tour (which I don’t do anymore) at PSA 15. The MRI reported that the nodule showed ’early enhancement’, which I gather now from researching is to do with the contrast dye picking up a strong early signal due to increased blood flow in that area, rather than its literal meaning. This from what I’ve read could be sign of cancer or simply inflammation. The report recommended review of urology history/PSA and for further imaging, if a biopsy is not preferred.

My query, I finally now have an appointment with a consultant NHS urologist in a couple of weeks time and in the meantime to repeat they want to repeat the PSA again. Given, what I know now, with the MRI I wonder whether to start Cipro again due to pain as still have them left over, or to wait for the appointment and PSA repeat.

I guess I should wait?

Re ciprio you should probably get tested to make sure it's the correct anti biotics.

Re MRI interpretation you need an expert opinion so probably wait is best, make sure the NHS consultant can access your private MRI results.
