Are night-time/rude dream erections a sign the nerves are on the mend ?

Wasn't sure which section to post this in so admin feel free to move if you think is best elsewhere

Question - are the pure mechanics/nerves needed/brain signals etc used to create an erection during an erotic dream the same as the ones used/needed during sex?

Five years on from surgery and my ED recovery is still ongoing - recovery is still noticeably happening all be it very slowly. But i can definitely see improvements as more time goes on we are now at the - Durex ring and a blue pill stage and i can jut about manage intercourse a huge milestone

I'm normally a heavy sleeper and not much wakes me so i have no idea if i have been having many (if any) involuntary night time erections - until last night, when i woke mid way through a very rude dream (more so than normal) to find what can only be described as a massive rock hard erection -  to my suprise length, girth and hardness pretty much as it was pre surgery

Is this good news ? Does it mean the nerves are well on their way to recovery and if i can get my emotions/stress/performance anxiety under control we maybe on to a winner

or is a night time erection created in different way and it was just a nice dream

Hi Philip,

Sounds like you're making progress.

I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure it's down to the nerves. I think the only difference between nocturnal erections and normal erections is probably psychological. When asleep, you're relaxed, but it could be that there's a little pressure when you want to have sex.

I'm over 6 years post op and my nocturnal erections often wake me up in the night.

Hope this helps,

Kev.

In a word, yes, the mechanics are the same so if you can achieve good nocturnal erections you should be on the mend down there. Once the pipes and cables are waking up there is a large psychological element to erections so let nature take it's often slow course at other times  , otherwise good news.

Sound promising! I find after 10 years I can get a great erection but as soon as I try to use it, it deflates. Hence cock rings are now my favourite accessory!

I have the same issue 2 years after RARP. Good nocturnal erections but not able to maintain that level for sex as it used to be. Thankful for an understanding wife. .  I am considering a cock ring but not sure how you get the right fit. Not too tight so it's painful.  Any advice?

The simple durex rings are easy to use and work well provided there are no latex allergies! Durex rings also degrade quite quickly.

I upgraded to one of these a few years ago:

I find it less intrusive to put on (you can do it before the action starts!) and use than the durex ring, it is also hypo allergenic so no rashes! Needless to say I think it's great.

Both the durex and MaxPR are one size fits all and are easy on and off.
