TWOC success

Catheter did come out on 6/3/26 (day 10) however seems the body wasn’t keen, lightheadedness followed by a temperature drop and then shaking and flank pain on both sides. To resolve a new catheter was put in and I need to wait a further 10 days. Good news CT scan and bloods showed nothing sinister but with 2nd TWOC due later this week keen to see if others have had a similar experience and what should I being doing differently on the 2nd attempt.

It sounds like you were in shock, and maybe they suspected a leak at the time. Were the side effects instant, or perhaps only as your bladder started filling? Did they say why they put a catheter back in?

Have they tried with a valve on the catheter (which would let your bladder fill up), or are you still with a bag?

With my limited medical knowledge here is my theory….. catheter removed a bit too quickly for my liking, sat in the waiting toom and testicular ache started to build over 10m. Thought I’d go for a walk to loosen up but that brought lightheadedness and called a nurse. Back on a bed and temperature dropped to 34, I’d taken around 250ml of water at that time and nurses gave me a cup of tea to warm me up. I think the quick filling of bladder then worsened the vasovagal incident (what they are putting it down to), lower half shaking started before flank pain in both sides. After a bit of deliberation doctor thought correctly reinserting a catheter would drain the bladder and remove the trigger and he was right, within seconds symptoms went.

As you can imagine anxious about 2nd attempt this Friday, needless to say my request will be to remove slow and gentle monitor vitals and slow fluid intake which I’d need to pause if similar symptoms appear

Anyone else had a similar experience?
