Hi

my husband had a transperineal biopsy 14 days ago, bloody urine eased after 7/8 days. He’s concerned he is still getting watery blood in urine after having a poo…is this normal at this stage? (He is on blood thinners following stents for a blocked artery 4 years ago) anyone put his mind at rest about this please? Or should he contact urology?

thanks so much

Tracey

Always check if concerned about unusual blood...

After a transperineal prostate biopsy, blood in the urine can appear for several weeks, or even longer, which is quite common. But you should also pay attention if he experiences symptoms such as very bloody urine or blood clots, pain, fever, or difficulty urinating, or if the bleeding suddenly worsens instead of gradually decreasing. If any of these conditions occur, he should see a doctor as soon as possible.
