Cold capping

Has anyone experienced wearing a cold cap during chemo and what was it like? I've watched a couple of YouTube videos and the range of reactions has been 'nightmare to only first time is difficult.'

Any guys on here experienced it? Also, anyone opted for the hairpiece route? Think if I lose all my hair I'll quickly become reclusive! I'm not the most attractive looking person so to be bald will move me into the 'freak' category. Not sure I'll cope with that!

Thanks in advance. D

My husband had chemo 10 years ago and decided not to have the cold cap , instead he shaved his head . He was working away at the time and dreaded the thought of waking up with hair on his pillow ! He had 6 sessions of chemo over 18 weeks and the hair on his head stayed put but he lost all his body hair ( which he had a lot of ) inc eyebrows . When his hair grew back to his normal length it had a slight kink to it . His body hair is still very sparse 10 yrs on with very fine hair on his arms and brows but not much anywhere else .

Not sure if this is the norm .

Best wishes

Debby .

I have just finished Chemo and had cold cap for all 6 sessions. It is uncomfortable and brain freeze for 10 minutes but settles down. Kept all my hair, so worth it.
