Hi. I had biopsy today & my diagnosis is PIRAD 4. Got to wait for results in 3 weeks. Anybody else in this situation?

Hi, I had pirads 4 from my MRI scan, with two areas of concern found each about the size of a malteser.

The biopsy only took 6 samples, 3 from each area of concern.

Results came back negative and I was shown the door rather smartly feeling I had wasted their valuable time.

I was happy if course but still also not very impressed, as it says on this site and many others; they cant tell you that you dont have cancer, just that they didn't find it. Also quite a few men report that their areas of concern were clear but random samples across the prostate came back positive.

Im left feeling they did the bare minimum and that I will have to fight to get any future tests if I'm concerned.

Do you know if there were areas they were concerned about and how many cores they took.

Hopefully it will be good news and with any luck delivered better than a medical secretary telling you theu dont have time to deal with your enquiry because they have genuinely sick people to speak to. Nice.

Hi Andy,

Sorry you find yourself on here with us, but it is a useful place to be. You will get lots of advice and support on here. Firstly, I know it sounds a lot easier than it is, but try not to worry too much during the wait. The biopsy results may come back negative yet. At PIRADS 4 (same as I was), it is unfortunately likely that you have got some degree of Prostate Cancer, but without the results there is no way of knowing the actual situation. I had to wait 8 weeks for my results, so I know it is hard, but try and keep yourself busy, do some nice things, and try not to dwell on it.

Secondly, IF you are confirmed as having cancer, please believe me when I say that it is normally very treatable, often curable, and not as scary as it might seem now, once you know exactly what you are dealing with and have a treatment plan in place.

Keep coming on this forum, and asking any questions you might have, and talking to us. We're reasonably well qualified to advise you mate, as most of us are in the same boat 👍

Ian.
