Good ol' hormone therapy!

Hi All - Just an update on my stage 4 incurable/treatable situation. Was diagnosed with PSA of 312 four months ago. Have had four weeks of hormone tablets and, so far, three injections of decapeptyl (ADT). Have declined chemo for now as value qol over length of life.

Cut to the chase: Had another PSA test this week and am now down to 0 3. And that's without the addition of darolutimide tablets which I started two days ago.

As anything 0.2 or below is classed as  'undetectable' I'm hoping now that the continuing injections and darolutumide will get me to that status. Obviously, if and when this combination ceases to control the spread, bitlk be time to consider chemo again.

For now though, I remain symptomless, as I have from day1,  and very grateful for modern medicine.

Just wanted to share my current experience to bring a bit of sunshine to the subject for a change.

Hi, Dave.

Thanks for the update, mate. It's great to see that the treatment is effective. Long may it continue. Good luck.👍

Wow! 312 to 0.3, dropping a thousand times in just four months. What you have may be "incurable" but it certainly appears to be treatable.

At those PSA levels the cancer cells aren't likely to be going anywhere. They might not have died (which would be a cure) but if you can manage the HT then absolutely, prioritise quality of life.

Good luck.

Fantastic news , my husband was diagnosed over 10 yrs ago with incurable prostate cancer which had spread to lymph nodes .

After early chemo and continuous hormone injections and abi ,his PSA became undetectable and has stayed there ever since . I hope you get continuous results.

Best wishes

Debby
