Hello all

just wanted to say hello, as I’ve recently had radical prostatectomy and had my six weeks follow up with the consultant.

the meeting was positive with an undetectable PSA result and the diagnosis on my prostate was that the cancer had not breached.

So I’m here listening (reading) others experiences trying to better understand the trials and tribulations of my new life.

thanks for all the contributions I’ve read so far and I’m sure I’ll have questions and concerns of my own soon enough.

I'm pleased to see that post-op your cancer was confirmed as prostate confined and your PSA result was undetectable. I hope you make a full and speedy recovery. đź‘Ť

That’s good news re PSA John, long may it continue!

As for the recovery time and moving on from side effects…it doesn’t always go to plan and the reality is usually different to the rhetoric! My husband certainly found that to be the case. It’s taken 2.5 years to finally solve his incontinence issue…and the ED issue not yet resolved! But through it all, keeping positive and reminding ourselves that the whole purpose of going through the treatment/op was to be cancer free…and he still is!

Hello all

I ust wanted to post an update from me and my experiences.

Just had my first three monthly blood test and my PSA came back undetectable again, so good news. 

My recovery timeline was somewhat different to my “expectations” so I wanted to mention it just in case others are not healing quite as quickly as they thought. Took 12-13 weeks for me to feel normal again (or almost) and mostly pain free.

still have slight continence and ED issues to overcome but moving oneards and upwards.

Urology at university hospital Coventry have been wonderful for me, the navigator nurse helps with all my queries and worries. 

I was already fully aware of how lucky I was to catch it early but confirmed as my wife’s cousin ignored the symptoms and sadly passed away quite recently.

anyway next three monthly blood is booked and here’s hoping the good news continues
