Total ED plus stricture coupled with strong libido

Three years of ADT and two years to regain normal testosterone has left me with total erectile dysfunction. 20 sessions of EBRT has left me with a stricture in my urethra ruling out use of a vacuum pump. Viagra has no effect. So far so good but the sad thing is that at the ripe old age of 70 I've been hit with a libido like nothing I can remember before. Sorry if this is TMI but I'm horny like a teenager and can do nothing about it. I have no partner. I crave the feel of a woman next to me but have to content myself with porn which is a poor substitute. I was never warned of this before I started treatment. I'm not saying it would have stopped me, we all have a desire to survive after all, but to be forewarned would at least have been forearmed. Bottom line is be thankful for living but be aware of the life you may be left with.

Hello, mate.

After diagnosis, there is certainly a lot more emphasis on the benefits of treatment, than on the possible side effects from it.

To be fair to him, my surgeon was quite succinct. "You'll never have a natural erection again. You will have incontinence issues. There will be about a 60% chance of recurrence."

Not ideal, I thought, but better than dying. 🙂

If not already out there get yourself on a dating site tailored to your age / interests. I met my lovely wife that way and she has transformed my life. A friend of mine who is in his seventies has done the same and has never looked back.

You will be surprised how supportive and satisfying the love of the right woman can be even for us "crocked PC survivors".

Yes I agree they do not emphasise the full extent of the side effects. Whilst they are probably extending your life, it is important to give the full picture eg reduced size of genitals etc. After a year on hormone therapy I am entering a discussion with my eurologist about coming off ht early to try and mitigate some of the effects and to get things working again to the best of my ability.

Hi Bean

I'm so sorry to hear you're left with this awful predicament.

It's the chicken and egg too. Without a woman it's a bit solitary, but with ED difficult to approach a new relationship.

If you were my concern.... Id say  get an appointment with an ED clinic, private if possible and if NHS cant give help in a timely fashion. Discuss the urethra problem and other options.

I would hope there is treatment for a stricture of the urethra. There are clinics for long term damage from EBRT

Im puzzled why viagra doesnt work if your libido has returned. Perhaps it is the lack of a partner.  Injections?? They've worked really well for some on this forum.

I'm hoping if you search hard enough you'll find the answer to this.

My problem is how and when on a date do I broach the subject of my ED? How do I play into the conversation that I can't do what would normally be expected in any relationship?

Thing is viagra works by dilating blood vessels. I'm on two blood pressure meds, plus Tamsulosin for my stricture. All of these dilate blood vessels, as does one of the anti-depressants I've been on for years. I don't think my blood vessels could be any more dilated. Put bluntly my cock no longer works. I have the libido, I feel the urge, but my old chap just tingles. Sorry, I don't mean to be crude, it's just that I'm very depressed about the whole situation. I feel like half a man.

Bean I always think the truth is something you can not go wrong with.

If there's any hint of a relationship blossoming, you come up front and say I've got to explain my medical history. The right woman will stick with it.

The other factor is to explore options to improve the situation. Women aren't as easily put off as you might think. Pumps, tablets whatever. It doesn't put me off.
