Brachytherapy after a prostectomy

Hi. It will be 2 years in August since I had a radical prostectomy. My PSA has crept up to 0.22 and I have an appointment with the oncology team tomorrow. I'm jumping the gun and I probably should have waited until after my appointment until I posted on here. I think they are going to advise me to have one type ? of Brachytherapy. Has anyone here been in a similar position to me. Thanks. Tony.

You can't have prostate brachytherapy after a prostatectomy - there's no prostate to put the radioactive seeds in.

The most common salvage treatment after prostatectomy is salvage external beam radiotherapy.

Thanks Andy. The oncologist has suggested 20 sessions of radiotherapy over 4 weeks and if I understood him correctly , no hormone treatment.

That's a fairly typical treatment. Hormone therapy isn't always used with salvage radiotherapy - I think it depends on your initial diagnosis, and what your PSA has done since the prostatectomy, and on your particular oncologist's views on the matter.

What was your initial/lowest PSA reading after the prostatectomy?

I think it was 0.08.
