Hi all.

It's 1.47 and I'm in a car park. I believe it's not allowed to say which hospital.

Husband was given verbally over the phone an appointment for his pre treatment scan prior to radiotherapy.  He was told today June1st 2.30pm. We wrote it down on our paper calendar and I added it on my phone too.

We had a phone call at 1.15 saying he should be there for a talk, where was he?.

We have left immediately and thankfully got here in about 15 mins. I've dropped him off and parked myself.

I've checked his emails while he was driving, he asked me to. His last appointment reminder from the NHS was for 28th April. His last message was to say his medication was ready. That came about 4 days ago. No other reminders or appointment mention. He thinks he may have had a letter and filed it away without reading it. That sounds very out of character and I don't think so. If we get a letter with NHS on it, I feel quite stressed till he's opened it and says 'oh its just this' etc etc. The last one we got was the standard feedback to GP copy from his appointment on April 28th saying they apologised for delay but there was no reason given at all. That letter arrived 4 weeks after the appointment.

I feel we will sort this out. I feel his email/ mob no. Or something has been missed off a list. I feel very frustrated and edgy at this moment in time. I feel this experience can be much better than this.

Update still here at 5.20 . He has been given a letter with unatructions, his RT schedule and a very clear description in pictures of how he gets ready. The date on the letter is 20th April. We've not seen any of it before

Must be pretty annoying for you both. Thankfully I didnt have any issues like that,as far as I remember anyway. Any letters etc I had arrived fine but additionally they were 'online' when issued in the hospitals online portal (this was Clatterbridge I'm sure most cancer treatment especially centres have letters online as they are sent). At least you see if/when letters issued. They also appear in my own GP NHS online documents a bit later.

I know we shouldnt mention names of individual doctors etc but think hospitals are fine, they are mentioned often enough.

OK Peter. This is Oxford Churchill.

Ended on a positive note. At 2nd attempt his bowel was emptied fine. Chap we saw last was very good. He just said don't worry we'd have seen you whenever you got here. He's right up to a point. He did explain what would happen next too. So that's all a positive.

Also the machines are the V Halcyon which I think are quite good.

Cooking dinner. Husband hadn't eaten since 9.30! It's now 7.01pm

The machine I was treated on was a Varian Halcyon, and it seemed quite impressive in both specifications (online) and use.

Good luck to your hungry husband!

Thank yes that's what this is. He's happily not hungry now! Salmon new potatoes, broccoli and carrots followed by rhubarb and a small amount of soya custard. Alpro we really prefer it
