Darolutamide and Relugolix , feeling unwell

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone out there has a similar experience,
Last year I had 2 recurrences, first to my Spine , only one spot which was blasted with targeted RT , the second was to left hip , right 3rd rib and 80-20% skull .

I was placed on these drugs which had a amazing response, PSA dropped to 0.32 from over 13 within a month , I had a pet scan which showed cancer was reducing but still there , it was considered that the highlight on my skull could be inflammation and not cancer however only way to know was to have a biopsy which I didn’t want. I was feeling great .

Fast forward a few months , especially in the last 2 weeks , I feel unwell, pain in my shoulders and back , and generally feeling unwell .
The question Im asking , is this an effect of the drugs , is the Cancer finding a way past the drugs , my mood seems to be dropping and feeling very down ATM ,

Thanks for your time .

Good morning Sheep62

My own personal experience of hormone therapy (Zoladex and Darolutamide) is that it can "lower mood". I have found that it occurs intermittently for short periods - never more than half a day or so.  I "feel sad" at times.  The effect of the HT is to cut testosterone and that impacts significantly across many areas of the male body.

I take plenty of exercise - walking, weights, resistance bands, indoor bike - and this improves mood (once the exhaustion has been gotten over!!!) and fights fatigue.  This all contributes to feeling better overall.

However, all that said, a chat with your GP or Consultant is always a good idea if things are feeling "off".

Best wishes

Good morning

Glad to see you are off to the GP - have good chat with them.

Interesting that you have picked up on the PureGym membership - I managed to find this too and my membership arrived a couple of weeks ago, right in the middle of my chemo so I haven't been yet - but have an induction session this Thursday which I am looking forward to.

Last week was also the first time I had ever done any form of Yoga!  I found a Gentle Yoga aimed at people with chronic conditions (including Cancer) and it made me feel absolutely fantastic!

Best wishes - stay positive

I have been on relugolix (only) for several months now. The only real side effect is occasional tiredness, some days a lot worse than others. I am a great lover of walks, one or two miles every day and maybe 8 miles once a week. But I often find walking quite tiring, sometimes just walking 100 yards and thinking I have had enough, that is not me. A bit of mild aching in the legs but nothing to worry about. But I need to get out and get these walks, if I sit about at home I just drop off! And of course a total lack of interest in anything to do with sex....

Morning Ceepee,

My puregym membership started last December, been around 10 times a month, its not easy however i feel it has helped a lot , hopefully you will get similar benefits.

I have never tried Yoga , now that would be a sight LOL , pleased you get benefit from it .

Im hoping the GP will help me out , i will ask for weight loss jabs and see if he can help with my low moods,

staying positive as much as you can is vital ,

Thanks for your reply it really helps

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your reply ,

Walking is probably the best exercise for us to do , my motivation can waver however , like you said feeling tired is the norm and getting out of it is difficult sometimes,

As for Sex , what do they say use it or lose it , well if thats the case mine has left home and gone into hibernation.

Best Wishes

Sheep62
