We don't seem to have many posters who've received this treatment. I was unaware of how accessible it was.

"Now, all 48 NHS radiotherapy centres in England will begin offering this five-session SBRT treatment to eligible men within the next three months."

It's the treatment used in the PACE-B trial. Two of my support groups are in the catchment area of one of the trial centres, and they have been offering this as a standard of care for 3 years since the PACE-B trial results became clear.

The eligibility is very similar as for seed brachytheray, so they have been offering it to everyone who was offered seed brachytherapy. During this period, everyone in those support groups eligible for seed brachytherapy has chosen the 5 fraction SABR instead and has been pleased with the results, with the first one now 3 years out from treatment. (I don't know anyone who was on the PACE-B trial, but they were all 5 years after treatment 3 years ago, so treated 8+ years ago on Cyberknife, which was the only way to deliver SABR back then.)

Seems that the criteria for the SABR are quite tight.  I spoke to my consultant this morning and she says that, for me, only the 20-day treatment will be effective as it's not only the prostate that's affected.  Dashed my hopes of a quick session!!!!

Thanks for sharing Adrian! My hope is that this will help many men and also be a step forward towards trials (maybe combination trials) finding other uses for SBRT for PC.

I asked about it and it was immediately kahboshed. When I looked it up after seeing it on the news recently, and as your link states Adrian, it's is only going to be offered routinely on the NHS for low to intermediate-risk localised prostate cancer for patients who I believe don't need or are on ADT. This is still potentially very good news for many though.

Hi,

I am Gleeson 3+4 described as favourable intermediate....

Have been told I am suitable for SABR and also have been trying to see if anyone had had treatment and side effects....

Consultant has said I'm suitable for active surveillance but not to leave it too long as I would then require hormone treatment, but can't say how long to leave it. PSA currently 3.8.

I would ask for second opinion regarding not suitable with ADT. My centre is Newcastle

I don't think you can have it if your on ADT, or have a very large prostate.
