Hi new here. Just been diagnosed with T2 PC and I am struggling mentally.

I have a call next week with a nurse to decide what path to take, I feel surgery is best for me.

any advice on how to deal with the emotions please?

Hi Graham,

I had a similar PSA and T2 and gleason 3+4 and I had robotic prostatectomy about 12 months ago. I chose against active surveillance and radiotherapy wasn't appropriate in my case. I'm sure I made the right choice but everyone and their prostate condition are different. After one year I still have slight urine leakage and erections aren't great (but improving) but otherwise life is good. I'm lucky living in an area m where post operation recovery treatments are free on the NHS. These might  include Tadalafil and penis pumps. I hope this potted life history is of interest. All the best.

Sorry to hear you're going through it mate, this is the toughest time, was for me.

I had all the emotions, anger, denial and guilt, but this will pass when you get your treatment mapped out.

Your staging does sound like you've caught it early though which is great news, some are not so lucky, so be positive you should be on the curative path.

Hi Graham,

I am not a specialist and understand the shock when you first receive the diagnosis that you have got prostate cancer but you have come to the right site with a lot of members following the same journey. you haven't given all your details and if you are given any choices of treatment yet.

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2016 after a medical to for my 7.5 ton driving licence with PSA 2.19 Gleason 3+4 =7  T2 no mo.I was given the choice of robotic surgery or Brachytherapy and took Brachytherapy as i felt it had less side affects.

I am 10 years on this September having being signed off in 2020. If you click on my avatar and scroll a long way down you can see my journey. You will get plenty of help from members on here as i did. good luck .

John.

Hi, Graham, welcome to the forum.

We've all been there, mate. A prostate cancer diagnosis always comes as a shock. Fortunately, however, often things are not nearly as bad as they seem.

You've done well to get through the scan(s) and biopsy. Most folk find those diagnostic procedures the most frightening.

Your T2 staging, is good news, the cancer appears prostate confined. Once you get a treatment plan, you can focus on that, and concentrate on getting better.

It would help us, to help you, if you don't mind giving us your PSA and Gleason score?

Its a good thing that you've found this forum. Although our disease is very common, you can often feel isolated when dealing with it. Being here, you're with people that know how you feel and will do their best to help and  support you.

It's very rare that there's any need to rush into a treatment option. It's a big decision to make, so take time to see which option is available to you and which one is most suitable to your individual needs.

Here's a good video on some treatment options and their possible side effects.

Good luck, mate. Please keep us updated. 👍
