What can I expect now that I have been diagnosed recently I have lost 2 stone and have pain in shoulders and hips and buttocks

I am so sorry to hear the news of your husband's passing, this new episode must be doubly difficult for you. Please take care of yourself.

It does look like a bit of a waiting game I am afraid but the scan is soon so results not too far off.

Treatments seem to be coming along all of the time. I am on what is called Triplet therapy - double lot of hormone treatment and I finished chemo two months back. My next step is to speak to my consultant about radiotherapy - the name of the game is to hit it hard and fast in my case.

My blood test was horrific - a PSA of 953 last August, but the wheels soon got into motion and I was on hormone therapy relatively quickly which stops the testosterone from feeding the cancer cells, and you get a dramatic drop in PSA readings. Mid-May my PSA was classed as undetectable - so not a bad result!

Whow that was good that you PSA level dropped so quickly my late husband’s also dropped but not for long so I hope in my brother inlaws case he really responds to what ever treatment they offer him he lives on his own so it’s a worry and just knowing what I’ve experienced with my husband as he took a Spinal cord compression and was paralysed from the waist down brother inlaw has pain in his Buttocks said one day 2 weeks ago he could hardly get out of bed

Hi Maryjane

Welcome to the forum. There are plenty of folk on here who can assist, with experience across the whole spectrum of the disease.

What would help us to help you is to have a little more information if you are able to provide any? A PSA score, a Gleason score together with any results from any biopsies would also assist - in the form of the TNM ratings. What if any tests have been carried out to date eg CT/MRI/Bone Scan/Biopsy. Has a treatment pathway been identified yet?

In the early days/weeks/months it is very daunting for all concerned, many of us have experienced anxiety regarding the future ahead of obtaining a treatment pathway and heads can be in a whirl all of the time. Talk is a great way to assuage anxiety, but so also is knowledge. Please avoid Dr Google and stick to trusted sources such as this PCUK site, the MacMillan site or the Cancer Research UK site.

Hi I don’t have anymore information yet my brother inlaw has only just been diagnosed he only said the bloods were really bad he never Mentioned  PSA levels he maybe was told I don’t know. 

He has lost 2.5 stone and has pain in his buttocks hips and shoulders he looks unwell for sure he is getting a scan tomorrow but the results will take ages likely we are in Dumfries and Galloway.

results seem to take a while here 

I’m just trying to to get ahead of the game as I lost my husband at the age of 54 to this disease 🦠 I’m hoping that there is better treatments now to help my brother inlaw.
