Recurrence 18 months after ADT ended

My husband has recently started taking Darolutamide, after it was discovered that his cancer has come back, 18 months after his last prostap3 ran out. 

At diagnosis back in 2022 his PSA was 8.7 G9 T3b treated with HDR brachytherapy, 23 fractions of whole pelvis radiotherapy and 2 years of ADT.

A recent bone scan showed he also has a hotspot on one rib, so is classed as oligometastatic.

I am looking for people's experience or thoughts on taking Darolutamide & prostap3, and also the bone strengthening medication he will have to have, once he's seen his dentist. He has also been put back on prostap3.

Dear Elle

I have read the profile -  very good and complete documentation of that rather terrible time you have been through.  

I am not on darolutamide but enzalutamide - I asked to change to darolutamide since it meant to affect the brain less..  but oncologist refused saying they were all the same.....  I want to stop the ADT (Decapeptyl) as I believe it has destroyed my energy levels.  I stopped taking the bone medication after some dental worries.

I think Gee finishing the ADT course was a good move and the darolutamide should push his psa down again.

Daraloutimide seems to be tolerated ok by the folks on here who take it.

unfortunate to read that Gee is on the ADT again...  hopefully the psa will reduce and you can ask your oncologist if you can stop the ADT (improve quality of life) and just rely on the daralutamide to keep psa in control...

Gee had two teeth removed last week, and once healed, the dentist said he is ok to go ahead with the bone strengthening medication.

Today he is in hospital for a few hours having his kidney stent changed.

I was just wondering if you have to have the bone strengthening medication, has anyone chosen not to have it, and if so, what are the implications.
