Hi, I was diagnosed 7 years ago now and my cancer has been really well managed. I'm on Abiraterone at present and, as with all treatments, my PSA was beginning to creep up. It had only got to 8.7 but my oncologist suggested changing from prednisolone to dexamethasone as this can sometimes reduce PSA or prevent it increasing. 12 weeks later my PSA has dropped to 4! When I asked onco whether it might fall more the response was 'maybe'.
Apparently the cancer cells can mutate to feed off prednisolone when testosterone is hard to come by. Not sure if they can mutate again to feed off dexamethasone but for the present I'm highly chuffed and feeling well!
