Hi.

 

Just to say, nearly 5 years post surgery and PSA = 0.05.

6 months ago (and for last 2 years) was 0.03. Is this little rise to be any concern?

As you know, mate, I'm not medically trained. However, I think it's fair to say, that any rise, no matter how small, is not ideal.

Having said that, this may just be a blip. One single rise is inconclusive, hopefully this won't be a trend and your PSA will stabilise or even fall to what it was before.

You're still a very long way from 0.2 which is usually deemed as recurrence and could trigger further treatment.

It needs watching, if it goes up again make sure you get referred back to oncology.

They probably won't do anything until it hits 0.2 but best to be in the system just in case.

I would say stick with testing at an interval of no more than 6 months (they might normally move to annual testing after 5 years). However, it's too soon to be worrying. You would need a rising trend, and that requires 3 consecutive readings which have risen, with at least 3 months between each.

Even if your PSA is rising, it will be some time at the current rate before anything is done.

Same position. RP in 2022. Was undetectable until October 2025 then in June 2026 had a early 12 monthly test and PSA was 0.09.

I had to ask my DR for a three monthly test and the DR reluctantly agreed.
