Fatigue and balance issues

Hi.

Thanks for letting me join the forum.

I finished ADT treatment in December 2025 and still struggling with fatigue and balance issues.

I recently joined the local gym for resistance exercises and only attended one session so far due to some ongoing family issues. I fully intend to return next week.

I asked my oncologist if I can have hormone replacement therapy medication and he wants me to wait until December this year to review my PSA level again.

What experience can others offer please?

Kind regards

It sounds like you’re taking a sensible approach. Hopefully getting back into the gym gradually will help with your strength and balance. It might also be worth asking your GP or physio about exercises specifically for balance while you wait for your next review.

Hi Shimeld

The gym is a good option to continue with if at all possible, I find it really helps with strength/fatigue issues.

I have also recently taken up Yoga which I have found really really good. Again stretching, use of muscles, and balance all important parts of it - I took it up at the age of 69 - should have done it years ago!!!

And just simply standing on one leg whilst brushing your teeth can help!  Modern brushes usually get you to change sides every 30 seconds - so that is what I do, I change legs every 30 seconds (and no I do not have four legs, each side twice!!!)

Thanks all.

ceepee, I have started standing on one leg while brushing my top row of teeth and swap legs for the lower row.

Additionally I do 5 squats followed by standing on one leg twisting my torso from left to right alternating. This is a Pilates move.

That is so good to hear - keep it up!! Small improvements make all the difference.

I set myself a target in March this year whilst in the middle of chemo that I would enter for Sir Chris Hoy’s Tour de 4 cycling event, and today I was in Glasgow to do just that!  I managed 15km on a static bike as part of a 30 minute challenge, encouraged along the way by having an Olympic Gold Medalist riding next to me!

Set some small goals and work toward them and then push on past - it can be done!

Best wishes - stay positive

You mention hormone replacement therapy. Have you had any testosterone level tests? It can take a while for testosterone to return naturally and a year is a fairly standard sort of wait. It's a good idea to wait until you find out if your testosterone is going to come back naturally before you try HRT. HRT will tend to suppress your natural testosterone production.

It sounds like you're doing all the right things when it comes to exercise and balance.
