Hi everyone

I am 9mths post nerve sparing prostatectomy for a gleason 7 -3+4. Still no elections, getting up 3 or 4 times at night for a pee and still so tired .

Anyone else fighting  similar symptoms 9mths out?

Hi BobS007,

I just replied to you on another thread. Yes, I had extreme tiredness and as I had non nerve sparing I will never have a natural erection again - it has been over two years since the op and not so much as a hint of any hardness.

As I said on the other thread, be kind to yourself and don't try to recover quicker than it takes. I am retired and play bowls twice a week and table tennis on a Thursday. I am a grandparent who is heavily involved in my three year old's life and just about can keep up with her. I still get tired sooner than before, but it has improved dramatically.

I so hope you get there soon.

Hi, Bob.

I was first diagnosed when I was 63 years and had non--nerve sparing RARP. about three and a half years ago. I can't get any natural erections and this is likely to be permanent. However, I can get erections sufficient enough for penetrative sex with the aid of Invicorp penile injections.

Prior to diagnosis I was getting up about three times a night to urinate. I was found to have a enlarged prostate (BPH) which was probably the cause of this. This disturbed sleep made me feel fatigued. I also started to get erectile dysfunction.

After surgery I still get up two or three nights a night to urinate and I'm still as tired. I don't know how much or the nocturia, erectile dysfunction and fatigue can be put down to prostate cancer, as the majority of elderly men without the disease, suffer similar problems.

I hope your condition improves, mate. 👍

Hi Bob

For me it took around 12 months to not feel so tired, it’s a big operation which I initially underestimated and soon realised that you just have to give your body time to recover. Your broken sleep will be making it more difficult to get the rest you need.

I was prescribed Tolterodine 4 months post op for a little while to help stop the urge of needing a pee and that helped me. Now only getting up once a night for a pee.

Hopefully things will improve for you soon.
Best wishes

For one I was definitely more tired for 12 months following RP. I was/ am pretty fit btw

Took me 2 years to regain some reasonable erections. I used a pump every day following the op to keep my penis healthy. Eventually I was prescribed Tadalafil which carried me for a while. Now ok without.

My bladder is definitely weaker. Pelvic floor has helped tremendously.

Sorry fella it can be a long haul.
