PSA high after biopsy

Hi All,

On AS for the last 5 years.

Currently G6 (3+3) recently downgraded from G7 (3+4) when what 3 MRI scans thought was a tumour is now being regarded as prostate inflammation or a bruise.

PSA has been averaging 6.3 for a few years.

I had a LATP biopsy in Oct 2025 and after that my 3 monthly PSA test results have been :

9.3 8.2 9.0 (last week).

The LATP was quite brutal on my body, taking me several weeks to recover with blood in semen for 10 weeks after the procedure.

Hello, mate.

It's obviously good news that your Gleason has been downgraded from 7 (3+4) to 6 (3+3). Your BPH and prostatitis can cause elevated and fluctuating PSA levels.

Presumably you are continuing on active surveillance with regular PSA tests and MRI scans?.

It's great to see that five years later your AS is working as it should, and that you've avoided having any radical treatment. Long may it continue. 👍

Yes, it's good that I haven't had any radical treatment and that AS is being used correctly.

It could be BPH causing elevated and fluctuating PSA levels. BHP is my primary concern now that I am G6.

I think my concern now is that the PSA levels continue to stay high and this is probably due to an increasing large prostate and general BHP. I just hope more LATPs will not result as the last one took a long time to recover from.

I might need to consider medications such as Alpha-blockers in the short term or surgery (TURP) if things become more severe long term.

Hi BRD,

would you be suitable for the new Stockholm3 blood test that they seem to suggest can avoid biopsies in some cases?

Maybe its worth asking the question.

Hi AI,

I've just been watching some videos on Stockholm 3 to get a better understanding of what it offers but and it does look very promising indeed.

I will definitely look into this as an option and discuss with my Urologist.
