journey begins again

so after going through surgery , radiothearpy and hormone treatment, i feel low as seem to have gone full circle the journey has started again as my PSA has slowly started to rise got a quickly booked PET SCAN on Monday next week, just needed to put it down in words as at a point can not really talk to anyone other than my partner , just fear the worse as the last 3+ years have been tough, has anyone else had this i have gone through all scenarios

Hi, as my profile shows dx Sep 2004, hit near enough cut of point of psa 2 in Apr 2017 to get tested again. For me that possible recurrence was by far harder to take than initial diagnosis. So just a taste of what you're going through right now. Hang on in there, get the result and then take it from there.

So sorry to read your news just after I posted my own good news after my first 6 monthly PSA test following radiotherapy last February. I realise in coming months or years my own PSA could start to rise again. I hope it won't but with this disease you just don't know. The anxiety will always be there.

I wish you all the very best with any future treatment. There's so much they can do these days so try to stay positive. 👍

Hi Makem,

I am sorry to hear that you might be looking at further treatment but lets hope it is not needed following your PET scan or there is a simple solution if there is.

I have had unsuccessful surgery and also recent salvage RT that I hope works for me this time so I think I know something of how you are feeling.

I also know what it feels like to have treatments fail. Initially this was RT along with HT, Then my first HIFU didn't do the job. I did persuade them to give me a second HIFU and I am still in remission after nearly 5 years after that. So my message is 'don't give up'. There is usually some further treatment that could be given. In my case it would now be systemic treatment if needed, if this second application of HIFU had failed because the hospital would not administer any further radical treatment to the Prostate even if that is where the tumour was, as they say my Prostate has been subject to enough radical treatment damage. What treatment a man can have depends on how much cancer is found and where it is found and what were the previous treatments.

Hi, Makem.

I'm sorry that the salvage treatment hasn't quite finished the job. You are bound to be feeling low and disappointed. All I can do is echo the sentiments of others and hope the the rogue cells are located and destroyed.

If putting things down in words helps you, please continue posting, you'll always get support here.

You're due a change of fortune. Hopefully the next phase of treatment will finally resolve the problem.
