It’s been quite the whirlwind. He told me I have an aggressive form of prostate cancer. He didn’t say what stage I’m at, didn’t give me 2 weeks to live, he just confirmed that I got it, it’s aggressive & let’s treat it. He may as well told me Tony Soprano is looking for me & he’s not happy.

I’m 50 yrs old & feel blessed to have lived this long. I don’t know that I’ll make it to 83 like my grandma did but …fingers crossed. I don’t mean to be so nonchalant about all of this but I’m trying to…deal with my diagnosis & remind myself that it’s not the end of the world. I suppose I just want to get some of this stuff off my chest.

Thanks for reading & understanding.

Hello, mate.

I'm sorry that you've joined the prostate cancer club, but welcome to the forum.

Most of us have experienced the shock and worry caused by a cancer diagnosis.

This is a good place to get things off your chest. You'll always get help and support here.

Do you have a treatment plan yet?

You seem to have a good sense of humour, which helps when dealing with this disease. To continue your Sopranos analogy, remember that in the end, Tony was 'whacked' before could cause more harm. I hope that your treatment is a effective as the hitman's bullet.

When you get your full diagnosis it's a good idea to add it to your profile. Please keep us updated.

Good luck, mate.👍

Hi,

Please don't give up on that dream of beating 83!

I know things feel bad. I went through it in 2024 and am still aiming at 91 and beyond (that was the age of my dad when he decided to move to heaven). I wish you all the best in your treatment. If you want to share what that treatment will be then I am certain a lot of people on here will be ready to help you face it.

The main battle is not the cancer, but finding the mental position where you can make every day as magical as it can be. It took me a while, but I got there!

Hi , sorry you find yourself in this situation. My husband was 55 at diagnosis, his stats weren’t great , psa 23 4+5 Gleason . Unfortunately his had spread to his lymph nodes and was classed as incurable but they would give him the best shot at maintaining it . He had early chemo and went on a trial, his treatment is still ongoing . This was nearly 11 yrs ago . He’s continued to work ( off at moment with a knee replacement ). treatments have greatly improved in this time . Keep the faith , and keep us updated. Lots of info and extremely informative people on this site .
Best wishes Debby
