Fatigue and weakness on hormone therapy

I have just started hormone therapy and am struggling with the fatigue side effects. Do they pass or diminish with time? Or even get worse?

Hi. I think it's different for different people. I've been on zoladex and enzalutamide for 4 years.  The fatigue hasn't gone away, but I adapt to it so it doesn't affect me as much.  Keeping busy and regular exercise help. But sometimes I just have to nap.

If it gets too much you can discuss with your nurse or oncologist.

Hi what is the name of the treatment?

Are you taking any exercise? I expect with the unpleasant surprise of the diagnosis and waiting etc etc that is a bit strength zapping too.

Husband is on Decapeptyl and for the last 5 or 6 months he has been on Apalutamide too.

He has shown very little sign of tiredness or fatigue. I'm not saying that to irritate, more as don't assume everyone feels fatigue.

He does a lot of walking and is always active. Gardening, chopping wood, just generally active.  He was a teacher so to combat the stress he joined a running club. He doesn't do that now just lots of walking.

An American expert Mark Schulz has done lots of videos on YouTube and the one on counteracting the effects of HT is particularly good.

I recently saw a newspaper item that research had shown how useful exercise is and some areas have links to gym membership.

Do stay positive. If the fatigue does feel too bad I believe it is possible to move to different brands of HT

All the best

I was on Zoladex for 3yrs (plus 2yrs abiraterone, enzalutimide, prednisolone on trial). Have to say it did result in fatigue plus many other side effects although they were expected. I did try to keep up with exercising as I was relatively fit/active wnen treatment started ar age 59. There were plenty of times though when I was happy to doze. I'm not sure if expected effects on Zoladex will be same as your HT but some will be. The concensus is bitsof exercise help a lot. Once my HT finished effects did wear off after a good while. I've no regrets although the fact I didnt have a choice of treatment and it seems to have done its job (treatment finished June 2018) as no doubt an affect.
