Hello and welcome to the Prostate Cancer UK Online Community!

Whether you've recently been diagnosed, are supporting a loved one, are living with prostate cancer, or are simply looking for information and support, we're really glad you've found us.

New here? How to get started

1. Read through our Community Rules.

These guidelines and our moderation team keep the Online Community supportive and safe for everyone. If something doesn't feel right, or you need help, you can contact the moderators at any time.

2. Take a look around

You don't have to post straight away. Many new members spend some time reading conversations to learn more about the community and to see how others use it. You might find that someone has already asked the same question you're thinking about today.

You can explore our existing topics and conversations using the ‘Topic areas’ tab.

Explore some of the forum’s key features:

- Check out Recent Conversations and Popular Conversations

- Following conversations you're interested in

- Updating your profile and updating your preferences

- Exploring groups for specific communities and experiences

- Sending direct messages (available to established members)

3. Introduce yourself

If you'd like to, tell us a little about yourself.

You could share:

- What brought you to the community

- Where you are in your prostate cancer journey

- Any questions or concerns you have

- What support you're hoping to find

4. Join an existing conversation

If you see a discussion that relates to your experience, feel free to reply and join in.

Sharing your story may not only help you, it could also help someone else who is facing similar questions or worries.

5. Ask a question

No question is too small.

Whether you're wondering about appointments, treatment options, side effects, recovery, emotional wellbeing, supporting a partner, or simply how others coped with a similar situation, somebody in the community may have been through something similar.

While members can share their personal experiences, remember that everyone's situation is unique and medical advice should always come from your healthcare team.

Still have questions? Need help?

You can find our full FAQs for using the Online Community in this conversation, or on the main Prostate Cancer UK website here. You can also contact our moderation team at any time.

If you're looking for further support, our Specialist Nurses can provide free, confidential information and support. They can also help partners, family members, friends, and health professionals.

If you'd like to speak to someone who understands your anxieties and uncertainties because they've been there themselves, take a look at our free One-to-One Peer Support Service. Our trained volunteers can also help partners, family members, and friends.

If you're looking for more health information, check out our main website and The Prostate Health Hub pages and newsletter. They provide reliable, trustworthy insights from clinical experts alongside relatable personal stories and supportive hints and tips from others who have gone through similar experiences.

You're not alone

Taking that first step can feel difficult. Many members arrive feeling worried, overwhelmed or uncertain about what comes next.

Whatever brought you here today, we hope you'll find understanding, practical advice and support from people who genuinely understand the challenges of prostate cancer.

As many of our members often say: We’re sorry you had to join us but we're glad you're here.

All the best,

The Moderation Team
